Board Certification

The American Physical Therapy Association established the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) to formally recognize physical therapists who have demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and skills in specialty areas, and to assist consumers and the health care community in identifying these physical therapists. To obtain board certification, candidates must submit evidence of advanced competence in a specialty or sub-specialty area and successfully complete a rigorous examination demonstrating specialized knowledge and advanced clinical proficiency in a specialty or sub-specialty area of physical therapist practice. Laurie has been board certified in sports (SCS) since 1994 and in orthopaedics (OCS) since 1997.

She has also been a National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) certified athletic trainer (ATC) since 1981.
